Summer is a time for fun in the sun, however, not everything is a day at the beach. All puns put aside there are some things you can’t avoid. But don’t worry there are always summer hacks for that!
Protect Your Goods
One of my favorite summertime activity is kayaking. We recently purchased two kayaks from Walmart and have set out to the nearby lakes on hour adventures. We are lucky enough to have places like stores and restaurants that you can access via water vehicles. Unfortunately, this means you need to find ways to protect your money and personal items from the water. But don’t you worry, there’s a hack for that!
The Shabby Creek Cottage posted this brilliant hack recycling a peanut butter jar as the perfect waterproof storage container for a day at the beach or poolside. You could even decorate them with different designs if you’re feeling crafty!
And when you’re walking the pier in your bathing suit with zero places to put your cash, this is the perfect solution. Re-used an old pill container or even a film container, hot glue a string to the top and use it as a bracelet or necklace. It may not be the hottest fashion trend, but it keeps your money safe.

Hydrating Summer Hacks
This hack is genius if you have kiddos. With 15 nieces and nephews, it is always a great idea to keep cups ready. Glue magnets to your favorite cups to make them easily accessible.
Staying cool in the summer sun means hydrating and drinking your favorite beverages. However, there is more of a chance for sand, dirt, and bugs to fly into your drink. Use cupcake liners as the perfect drink protector when you are sipping outdoors.
There are so many ways that the beach could go terribly wrong, from items blowing away to the invasive sand. I am not saying I don’t love the beach, because I do! I just think there are definitely ways to make it more enjoyable.
Now I am okay with having a little sand between my toes but I have been seeing this hack everywhere! Apparently, sprinkling baby powder on your skin is the major trick to removing that dried-on sand.
If you haven’t seen this hack in the past few years then you have been living under a rock! This is the perfect chill spot to escape the sand.
Ice can get expensive and melt mighty fast in the hot sun. Grab those water balloons, fill them up and freeze them ahead of time. Put them in your cooler with your favorite drinks and keep everything cold for half the price and half the melt time.
Plan ahead by keeping closeable containers that you would originally throw away. Fill them up with your favorite on-the-go snacks to protect them from crumbling or getting soggy.
Aloe vera gel is the best way to fight off those pesky sunburns. Putting them in an ice cube tray and freezing them is just an added soothing bonus.
Beauty Summer Hacks
It wouldn’t be a Fall for Maine life hack post without kool-aid. Take one kool-aid packet, dampen your finger and apply onto lips. You could use flavors like cherry and peach to create the perfect kool-aid lip tint. Stains your lips without worrying about lipstick smearing in the hot sun.

Being a lady prepping for summer time, lips are the least of our problems. If you are ready to rock your bathing suit your legs should be ready as well. One of the most popular summer beauty tips I have seen this year is shaving your legs with baby oil. Creates smooth legs for the beach!
