Spring cleaning has been a top priority in my life lately. The snow has melted and now suddenly my home is filled with dirt, dust and whatever else accumulated during winter hibernation. This is the perfect time to switch out those cozy candles and break out the more purifying tactics. I’ve talked about my favorite essential oil blends before but personally have never thought to combine them together until now. I know, I am a little late to the party. Better Homes & Garden has a new candle line that is from all natural oils. I am currently rocking the lemongrass and ginger scented wax melts and LOVE IT. But, I really would like to get my diffusers up and running again.
First of all, let’s talk about how I found these blends to begin with. There are two companies that specialize in essential oils that I love getting my oil cheatsheets from. Doterra and Young Living. While I am in no way affiliated with these companies, they are amazing as a source for the perfect blend for every season. My mother-in-law is a rep for Doterra so I have the pleasure of borrowing hers on occasion if you are interested in purchasing any of the oils I mention in this post use her link for great deals!
There are some oils that I believe are essential (pun intended) to create a variety of blends and to just have on hand for other medicinal uses. With it being the spring season there are more fresh, citrus type oils that are more common in spring time blends this time of year.
Lavender is an essential ingredient for a lot of soothing oil blends. It helps reduce stress and anxiety and induces sleep. The soothing properties also work well for acne, pain, and eczema. Adding lavender into blends specifically used in bedrooms is perfect to create a calm environment.
Peppermint is my all-time favorite essential oil. I am a fan of all things mint when it comes to ice cream, coffee, scents. You name it, I love it. This oil is no different. Peppermint essential oil is my go-to for headaches and aches, applying topically it supplies a comforting soothing sensation to relieve the pain.
Lemon is a common oil used in springtime blends, most likely from it’s fresh and fruity scent. I can’t personally say that I use this on the daily basis, but after seeing these combinations, I am about to buy a bottle!
Orange is another perfect citrus scent to brighten up a room. I personally use this every single morning with a drop on my wrists to promote energy and good vibes throughout the day.
DoTerra Essential Oil Blends
The essential oil mavens at DoTerra have put a number of combinations to create the best blends possible. Each blend has its own name which makes it even more fun as well. I have done the work for you and found the best of the best to make your home feeling refreshed as the seasons change.
Clean laundry is made up of 3 drops White Fir, 3 drops Cypress and 2 drops Wintergreen. There is nothing better than the smell of clean laundry just out of the dryer. Let’s just hope this essential oil blend smells just like that.
Young Living Essential Oil Blends
I will say that Young Living has a much larger variety of essential oils and a lot of unique varieties that you may have never heard before. Things like carrot seed and black pepper! Each has a different scent and purpose to create a much larger range of blends you can combine for your home.
Combine Thieves, Citrus Fresh and Lemon together to create what Young Living refers to as “Kitchen Fresh”. With spring comes spring cleaning so if you can make your space smell clean without actually doing any in-depth cleaning, sounds great to me!
When I saw orange creamsicle I know this would be my new favorite scent. I love all sweet orange things, so this is no different! Both Doterra and Young Living have pre-combined essential oils that have been researched and blended for specific uses. This combo includes Orange and Stress Away.
Like I have mentioned above, Young Living is a bit more daring with their essential oil blends. Made up of lemon and peppermint this lemonade stand combination is incredibly intriguing. I definitely plan on trying this once the season because a little brighter.
The more popularized essential oils become the more diffusers are marketed as well. I know that Walmart has come out with several new designs as well as Doterra and Young Living having their own collections as well. Here are some of my favorites that I plan to buy for my new home.
All Natural Cleaning Combos
Essential oil blends are not only purposed for diffusers, they can be combined to create all natural cleaning products as well. A lot of store-bought cleaners are created with harmful chemicals that are not only unsafe for children but also just have that bleach scent to them. Making your own cleaning products is also safer but they probably smell a lot better. Most DIY cleaners will consist of vinegar, so be prepared for that.
Lemon & Lavender Cleaner
Laurel from A Bubbly Life created this amazing all natural cleaner recipe that is not only effective but gorgeous. It combines vinegar, lemon essential oil and lavender essential oil. Simple and to the point!
Young Living Essential Oil Cleaners
Young Living also has a variety of essential oil blends that are specifically for cleaning. All of their recipes to include their Thieves product which you can snag here.
